"Every morning you are handed 24 golden hours. They are one of the few things in this world that you get free of charge. If you had all the money in the world, you couldn't buy an extra hour. What will you do with this priceless treasure?" ~ Source Unknown ~
In order to effectively utilize your free gift, you have to know what's important to you. Here are three time management tips:
1. Analyze It
Where does your time go? Before you can start re-channeling your time towards your important goals, you have to become more time conscious.
From now on, start monitoring what you do with your time on a daily basis. Do this for at least a month, documenting your data in a notebook or on your computer. This exercise will open your eyes, giving you a clear picture of whether or not you are wasting your time...and your life.
2. Plan It
One of the most effective time management strategies is to plan your day in advance. Before you go to bed, make a list of what you would like to accomplish the next day...ordering it according to importance.
What makes this technique effective is that when you get up the next day, you will have a clear roadmap to follow. One of the biggest causes of wasted time is indecision...having a million things to do and not knowing where to begin. This will take care of that problem.
3. Time It
Sometimes while working on large projects, you might get bored and find it difficult to maintain your momentum.
Break up your projects into timed chunks. For example, I'll work for thirty minutes, after which I'll get up, do some stretches, hydrate my body, etc.
You can use one of the free online timers or some other alternative. You will end up getting more done, plus you'll be taking care of your health, etc.
Start on the road to reclaiming your time and your life by following these time management tips. After all, as Alan Lakein said, "Time = Life".
